structured cabling

Structured cable for a home

We design structured cabling to provide homeowners, builders, electricians and developers with guidance for the installation of the cabling infrastructure that is important to support today’s digital and connected lifestyles.

BENEFITS OF CORRECT CABLING

The benefits of installing a good infrastructure at a build or refurbishment stage are multifold and include:

  • Having the ability to discretely integrate and distribute Internet, Entertainment (TV, satellite and music), Computer and Communication systems around the home without having to trail any additional wires.
  • Enabling the home for future Digital Healthcare applications.
  • Adding value to the home by ensuring that future buyers’ home technology needs are met.
  • Preserving the décor and structure of the home by planning for future needs (retro-fitting cables can be disruptive and costly).
  • Providing the correct wired infrastructure to enable a robust wireless network.
  • The ability to enjoy multi-room media systems throughout the home.

CHOOSING THE SERVICES FOR YOUR HOME

Matrix services and grade

PLANNING  YOUR HOME

GRADE 1 SERVICES

SATELLITE DISH, TV  (FM AND DAB) AERIAL

Typically installed at roof level and so it is recommended that a specialist TV aerial installer is contacted to install equipment at high levels. A bad dish or aerial installation will result in poor signal distribution around the home. Coaxial cables (and earth) should be run from the dish and aerial location to the ELVHE.

CABLE TV SERVICES

Cable TV services require a connection that typically enter the home from street level and can provide cable TV services, phone and broadband. Cat5e and Coaxial cable provision should be run from the entry location to the ELVHE.

TELEPHONE AND BROADBAND

The telephone line can enter the home from a high level or may enter from street level. A Cat5e connection should be run in provision from this location to the ELVHE.Extra Low Voltage Head End (ELVHE).

Home Theatre

Design a jaw-dropping home cinema that rivals any cineplex by incorporating immersive high-resolution audio, high-definition video, best-in-class surround sound, an enormous smart TV or projection screen, and customized lighting to complete the experience.

  • Watch video from multiple sources, including media players, hard drives and portable devices—or browse through them all simultaneously.
  • Hide all of your equipment in a closet and control everything with a single, easy-to-use remote or elegant touchscreen.
  • Enjoy smart lighting throughout the room that dims when you press “play” and ramps back up when you press “pause.”
  • Incorporate special lighting features, like pathway lights and starry-night ceilings.
  • Control your whole home from the theatre, including adjusting the room temperature or seeing who is at the front door, without leaving your seat.
Cinema seating

Any system will require planning before installation ever begins. Whilst design changes can happen on-site during a project, these should always be based on an initial design. Multiple changes on-site due to lack of planning only serve to slow the installation process and add cost to the project. With only basic floorplans, it is possible to plan which services you need prior to the design or installation stage

GRADE 2 SERVICES

In addition to services provided in Grade 1, a Grade 2 wired home includes the provision of wiring a number of multi-room audio zones.

  • Play classical in the study, jazz in the kitchen and rock in your kids’ room, all at the same time.
  • Send music from virtually any source, including your smartphone or tablet, to any room in your house. You can even allow your guests to stream their own music collection from their portable devices.
  • Manage the volume, start or stop the music and even control your lights with a single tap.

Lighting

Smart lighting is one of the biggest opportunities for you to subtly, but effectively, influence the ambience of your home and complement the aesthetics of its decor.

You can turn on the entire room—or multiple rooms—with a single light switch, and raise or dim illumination to whatever level you desire. And if you don’t care for the banks of switches on your wall, your lighting controls can be centralized elsewhere, such as in a closet, to avoid distracting from the style of your home.

Smart lighting is both beautiful and energy efficient.

Your lighting automatically turns on when you need the light, but turns itself off when no one is in the room.

  • Have the lights in the house turn on automatically to welcome you home.
  • Use motion sensors to provide hands-free illumination.
  • Program the lights to shut off automatically when a room is unoccupied
  • Use keypads to trigger more than just lights, including music, shade control, and energy settings—with a touch of a button.
  • Illuminate the hallway lights automatically for safe entry, as soon as you enter the garage.
  • Have your outdoor lighting turn off in the morning, and turn on as the sun goes down.
  • Make your home sophisticated enough to appear to be occupied even when you’re away
